Our first dog service that we connected with was a boarding service, Lady’s Good Dog Boarding, based in a private home in the Apollo Beach area. While they board mostly for their local community, Alexis was happy to meet with me to discuss a host of doggie subjects!

We met Alexis at The Dog Bar in St. Pete at 2300 Central Avenue. What an awesome place this is! It has 2,000 square feet of open-air fenced off areas for dogs to play in water, run around with new friends, and run obstacles while their owners chill out and enjoy a drink from the bar. They have two different sections, one for small dogs, and the other for larger breeds. There is a dog supervisor called the Wooferee during their busiest hours who ensures that all their patrons are getting along and having a good time. They require a membership for all dogs along shot records to make sure all dogs are up-to-date and healthy. If you love taking your dog everywhere you go, this place is perfect for you and your pup! Check out their website for more information at

When we first arrived in Florida, it seemed like most beaches did not allow dogs. Alexis recommended Honeymoon Island, Apollo Beach, and Anna Marie Island for the best places to take your pup. Honeymoon Island turns out to be just perfect for a day at the beach with your dog. It offers a ton of space to run around and play as well as a human only side. I found a few other beach areas that you can check out at the Sessions Page at the bottom. We met Alexis and her gorgeous terrier-lab mix at Apollo Beach for a photo shoot and have to agree that this beach is ideal as well!

While researching vets in the area, I stumbled upon a service called Vet 2 Door. Dr. Janell is based out of St. Petersburg and provides in-home vet services. What a great service to reduce the anxiety involved in visiting a vet’s office or for those who cannot leave their home. Check her out on Facebook, or visit her website at for more information.

Lastly, I found an awesome resource, The New Barker. This magazine is all about dogs such as where to dine, shop, board, and just have fun with your dog in Florida. It is a quarterly publication, so reach out to them to subscribe at I cannot wait to get my first copy!

Thanks for meeting me here today! Stay tuned for more Florida blogs!
